Smart watches usable with 12 smartphones, 8 tablets

Samsung has added more devices to the list that will work with the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit smart devices. A total of 20 Samsung mobile devices are now compatible with the smart watches, with the list of eight tablets and 12 smartphones including a large number of recent releases, as well as some of the more prominent best-sellers from the last few years.

Smartphones compatible with the smart watch range starts with the Galaxy S5, and includes the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Grand 2, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Mega 6.3, Galaxy Mega 5.8, and the Galaxy Note 2. The list of tablets consists of the 10.1, 8.0, and 7.0 versions of the Galaxy Tab 4, the 12.1, 10.1, and 8.4 models of the Galaxy TabPRO, the Galaxy NotePro 12.2, and the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.

While the official compatibility list is just for Samsung devices, it is possible for other smartphones to connect to the smart watches, albeit by using a work-around. 9To5 Google claims it was able to connect the Gear Fit to the HTC One M8, with it functioning with "almost 100 percent of its features" operational, though the instructions note that potential users would need to sideload one app and install another to the smartphone before use.
