Briefly: Frontback selfie app for Android, Bing's personalized cards

updated 11:27 pm EDT, Wed April 16, 2014

Front and back camera shooting app now available for Android devices

Frontback, a "selfie"-focused photo capturing app originally released for iPhone, is now available for Android users. The app captures two shots: one of the subject with the rear camera, and one of the user's face, a second later, with the front-facing camera (though varying combinations of shots can be paired). The second photo intends to add context much like a caption, and both images can be posted to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr, as well as Frontback's own newsfeed.

Included is a self-timer, and the ability to flip captured images. Users can write short descriptions that tag friends and use hashtags for flagging other phrases. Frontback is available for download through Google Play.

Bing adds personalized cards to its homepage

Microsoft's search engine site, Bing, has rolled out a personalized cards feature for its homepage. The cards are based on a user's interests, habits, location data and search history, with Bing-powered Microsoft services readily available to select for a personalized Bing homepage. Interests and preferred cards can be chosen upon sign-in to one's Microsoft account, with options ranging from weather, news features, flights, stocks, and more. Users will also receive alerts in the Notification Center, accessible from any Bing page. Bing's interests and personalized cards can be toggled if desired.
