Reeder 2 for Mac enters free public beta

updated 01:18 pm EDT, Fri April 11, 2014

Replaces absent Google Reader sync with new sources

Popular RSS client Reeder has returned to the Mac in the form of an initial public beta of Reeder 2. The beta is a free download, and replaces Reeder's formerly centerpiece Google Reader sync with services like Feedly, Feedbin, and Fever. Alternately, the software can be set up with locally-stored, non-synced RSS feeds. Google discontinued Reader in July 2013.

Reeder 2 for Mac will eventually become paid software, but pricing hasn't been announced. An iOS edition of Reeder 2 has been available for some time for $5; the cause of the Mac app's delay is unknown.
