Executive selected for the job, will assist in Lenovo transition

Just prior to its offload to Lenovo, Motorola Mobility has named Rick Osterloh as chief operating officer. Jonathan Rosenberg, Google's Senior Vice President of Product Management announced the appointment of Osterloh, who is replacing Dennis Woodside -- who departed to become Dropbox's first chief operating officer.

Rosenberg wrote that "Rick is a Silicon Valley veteran and a familiar face across Motorola, where he has been leading all product management and helping to define the 'go forward' strategy for the past two years."

Osterloh joined the company, following Motorola's acquisition of Good Technology. He departed briefly for Skype, then returned to Motorola in 2012.

Lenovo Executive Vice President Liu Jun said of the appointment that the company was "confident in his (Osterloh's) ability to not only manage a smooth transition at Motorola from Google to Lenovo but, also to lead the business forward for continued growth."
