Aviary upgrades iOS SDK with new UI features, new tools

updated 03:08 pm EDT, Wed April 9, 2014

Includes 64-bit support

Aviary has launched a major update to its Photo Editor SDK for iOS, used by a number of photography-related apps. The SDK includes a new UI scheme, aligned with changes made in iOS 7. Developers can choose to customize the editor to suit their particular apps. Aviary has also improved the code's efficiency, for instance by shrinking the SDK, and boosting performance in finished apps through changes like 64-bit support.

Other upgrades include a new set of editing tools, like a text overlay option with multiple fonts, and more localizations, now covering 23 languages. Developers have access to more monetization options, such as the Aviary Premium Content Network, which does revenue sharing for in-app purchases and brand campaigns. A basic implementation of the Photo Editor has meanwhile been made free to use.
