M4 uses 2.5-inch drives in RAID; 10-Gigabit Ethernet peripherals launched

Promise Technology today announced three new Thunderbolt 2 and shared storage devices aimed at the creative professional market. The Pegasus2 M4 uses an array of 2.5-inch drives in a new portable form factor. The VTrak G1100 NAS Gateway is a 1U file server with an 8Gb Fiber channel front end and 10Gb Ethernet dual port connectivity. The SANLink2 10G is a Thunderbolt 2 10-Gigabit Ethernet bridge adapter that connects any Thunderbolt 2-enabled Mac to high performance 10Gb Ethernet networks.

The four-bay Pegasus2 M4 uses four 2.5-inch drives, and is only limited in speed by the Thunderbolt 2 interface if SSDs of sufficient speed are installed. It is capable of RAID 0,1,5,6, and 10. The VTrak G1100 NAS Gateway provides 10Gb Ethernet access to the VTrak A3800 shared storage appliance, allowing multiple users to simultaneously edit video for post-production and broadcasting.

The Sanlink2 10G is capable of connecting a pair of 10Gb Ethernet connections on a single computer, for high performance data transfer. The Pegasus2 M4, VTrak G-Class NAS Gateway and SANLink2 Thunderbolt 2 to 10GBase-T Ethernet bridge will be available starting in the second quarter of 2014 through Promise Technology's global network of distributors and resellers. Pricing is not yet known.
