Verizon-exclusive Windows Phone pre-orders begin, ships April 12

Verizon has quietly launched the Samsung ATIV SE on its network, and has started to accept pre-orders of the device. Just as previously rumored, the Verizon-exclusive smartphone will be shipping with Windows Phone 8 onboard instead of Windows Phone 8.1, though it is likely that Samsung will be providing an update to the newer operating system shortly after release.

Packing a 5-inch 1080p display, the ATIV SE uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, according to The Verge. On the back is a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with flash and 1080p video recording capabilities, with a 2-megapixel version on the front, while connectivity over Verizon's LTE network is joined by dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. Weighing 4.79 ounces, it also has a 2,600mAh battery said to provide up to 20 hours of usage and up to 20 days of standby time.

The Samsung ATIV SE is being sold under pre-order for $600 off-contract, $200 with a two-year agreement, or for $25.22 per month with Verizon Edge. Verizon expects to ship the smartphone on the 12th of April, and is currently offering the ATIV SE under a Buy-One-Get-One-Free deal, where a second smartphone on a two-year commitment can be bought at the same time for no charge.
