updated 11:01 am EDT, Thu April 3, 2014

PC spaceship simulation game ported for iPad 2 or later

Subset Games' PC strategy game Faster Than Light (FTL) has been ported for the iPad 2 and later. Gamers are tasked with running a spaceship trying to escape an oncoming rebel fleet. This involves managing crews and subsystems, coping with threats like fires, boardings, and depressurization. The iPad version includes the free Advanced Edition expansion, which adds new ship, enemies, events, weapons, and more. Available for $10 on iTunes, FTL requires iOS 6 or later, and is thus not compatible with the original iPad.

Pebble app updated, adds app sharing, new watchapps

Pebble's official smartwatch app, which works on both the original Pebble and Pebble Steel, has received an update today. The Pebble smartwatch connects to an iPhone or other iOS device using Bluetooth, and alerts the user of incoming calls, emails, messages and alerts. Various watchapps are available within the Pebble smartwatch store, which allows one to browse and install watchapps and watchfaces, store watchapps when not in use, and discover new content for one's smartwatch.

The latest version of Pebble on iOS offers the ability to share apps with friends via email, Twitter, Facebook and text message. New watchapps have been added to the appstore, and various bug fixes are included. The Pebble Smartwatch app is free to download, and is intended to be used with a Pebble Smartwatch only.
