updated 06:20 am EDT, Fri March 28, 2014

Five-inch Full HD display of PadFone X joined by nine-inch tablet dock

AT&T has revealed details about the upcoming PadFone X, close to three months after its initial announcement. The smartphone section will use a 5-inch 1080p display, which can be slotted into the back of an accompanying tablet dock, providing a larger 9-inch 1920x1200 screen as well as an extra power supply by a secondary battery, among other extras.

Running on Android 4.4, the smartphone will use a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It will also have a rear 13-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing version, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 2,300mAh battery. The PadFone Station adds 4,990mAh of extra power, and replaces the covered-when-docked front camera of the smartphone with a 1-megapixel version.
