BioShock Infinite final expansion pack released for Mac, PC

updated 02:30 am EDT, Wed March 26, 2014

Three-episode 'season pass' now available for $20

The epic quest platformer BioShock Infinite on Tuesday saw the simultaneous release on Mac and Windows of its third and final expansion pack, Burial at Sea - Episode 2. The add-on follows the release of Burial at Sea - Episode 1 and Clash in the Clouds for the artistic platformer, which makes exceptional use of rich environments, and offers new achievements as well as a continuation of the previous pack's storyline. The $20 "Season Pass" has been updated to include the new content.

"Set immediately after the conclusion of BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One, this concluding episode puts you in the role of Elizabeth as she journeys through Rapture in an effort to rescue the little sister she abandoned," developer Irrational Games said in a statement about the new expansion pack. "This continuation of the Burial at Sea saga features parts of Rapture you've never seen before, built almost entirely from scratch in the BioShock Infinite engine." The company also noted that the story involves "nearly every major character from the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite" and that players will see new weapons and plasmids alongside old favorites.

The expansion is now available on both game service Steam as well as Aspyr's GameAgent store, with release on the Mac App Store expected later this week. The add-on sells for $15 independently, and is part of the $20 season pass. BioShock Infinite itself is now priced at $30, down from its original $60 debut price. It first appeared on the Mac last August, following an initial release on Windows, Xbox and PlayStation 3 a year ago.
