Haswell-based Toshiba notebooks offer high capacities, high-resolution option
Toshiba has detailed new ranges of notebooks it will be releasing this year, as well as providing additional information for one it has already revealed. More detail about the Satellite P50t, a notebook with a 4K-resolution display first introduced at CES, is provided by the company, along with the lower, more conventional-resolution Satellite S50 and S70 notebooks.
Toshiba Satellite P50t
The Satellite P50t will offer a 15.6-inch 3840x2160 10-point multitouch display, giving it a pixel density of 282ppi, with the display said to be calibrated by ChromaTune and Technicolor Color Certified during its production. Inside the aluminum casing is a fourth-generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor matched with AMD Radeon R9 M265X graphics, a 1TB hard drive, up to 16GB of RAM, DTS sound, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. External ports include four for USB 3.0, HDMI-out with Ultra HD and 3D support, mic and headphone ports, gigabit Ethernet, and an SD memory card slot. While Toshiba has yet to price the Satellite P50t, it states it will be shipping in the second quarter of this year.
Toshiba Satellite S50
The Satellite S series boast processor choices up to and including a Haswell Intel Core i7 chip, integrated Intel HD or AMD Radeon R Series M260 graphics, up to 16GB of RAM, a 6-hour battery life, Wi-Fi, Harman Kardon speakers with DTS sound processing, and Windows 8.1 for the operating system. The smaller S50 and S50t have 15.6-inch Full HD displays, with the S50t offering touch capabilities, combined with a 1TB hard disk for storage, two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, and HDMI out, in a notebook measuring 19.9mm (0.8 inches) thick and weighing a maximum of 2.23kg (4.9 pounds).
The Satellite S70 boosts the screen size to 17.3 inches with HD+ or Full HD options, the choice of a 1TB hard disk or SSHD storage, an optional Blu-ray or DVD drive, and four USB ports split between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.
As with the Satellite P50t, the Satellite S series will be out in the second quarter, though again, pricing details remain unknown.
