Ad gives information on Android integration in future head-units

Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler has posted a job ad that gives hints to Google's plans for in-car integration of Android products alongside its previously-announced support for Apple's "iOS in the Car" initiative. The advertisement says that the company is looking for someone to work with Google "projected mode" for Android, the first time such support has been mentioned by the carmaker.

The ad, posted on February 28, is looking for an engineer or computer science major to be responsible for "application integration of smartphones using the Google Android operating system by means of Google 'projected mode' of the head-unit." No specific information is given in how the phones would connect to the head-unit, but some basic functions are outlined such as playing media, SMS use, receiving phone calls and navigation to be controlled through the vehicle's controls. The ad states that "this is a technology for the seamless integration of Android smartphones in the Mercedes-Benz head-unit."

Daimler isn't only looking for someone to work on the Google "projected mode," but also has a similar ad posted for an "iOS in the Car" position. Both ads state that the systems "should be used in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles and in all markets worldwide."
