Apple releases iOS 7.0.6, 6.1.6 to cope with bugfixes

iOS 7 update deals with SSL connection problems

Apple has released a pair of new iOS updates, iOS 7.0.6 and 6.1.6. Release notes indicate that the former deals with a problem in "SSL connection verification." 6.1.6, meanwhile, eliminates several bugs experienced by iPhone 3GS and fourth-generation iPod touch users.

Another iOS update, v7.0.5, was released toward the end of January, but was exclusive to the iPhone 5s and 5c since it addressed "network provisioning" problems on some Chinese iPhones. It's unusual for Apple to release simultaneous iOS 6 and 7 updates, which may suggest that the iOS 6 bugs were serious and/or easy to solve.

Update: Apple has also issued v6.0.2 firmware for the Apple TV, fixing the same SSL vulnerability targeted by iOS 7.0.6.

What is the world coming to when updates are released to cope with bugfixes?

Back in my day, bugs were fixed, and we'd cope with the new situation all on our own. Some us us missed those long-standing bugs, but by and large, we got by.

All this warms my heart. Apple's support of legal phones and tablets is by far the best in the industry. My Kindle 3 has gotten only one upgrade in the 2-3 years I've owned it.

I assume those new update include some kind of built-in shrink. You know, to help with all the coping.
