LG G2 mini reduces specification as well as screen size

LG has revealed a smaller version of its G2 smartphone, as part of its pre-Mobile World Congress announcements. The LG G2 mini takes after its larger stablemate in styling and functionality, including the rear buttons, though like other "mini" models of devices, the specifications are pruned to more budget-friendly options, such as replacing the 5.2-inch display of the original for a 4.7-inch 540x960 version.

The Snapdragon 800 in the G2 is replaced by either a Snapdragon 400 or Nvidia Tegra 4i processor, according to The Verge and GSMinfo, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It also includes a rear 8-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing version, micro SD expansion, and a 2,440mAh battery. The installation of Android 4.4 will be overlaid by LG's software, including a "guest mode" function, and despite the cost-cutting efforts, it will apparently still offer LTE connectivity in some variants.

Initially rolling out in March, the LG G2 mini will initially ship in Russia and neighboring territories, with the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Europe to follow. It is expected to cost between 300 and 400 euros ($400 and $550.)
