ZTE outlines two upgraded versions of smartphones it launched the same time last year

ZTE has detailed two new smartphones it will be launching at Mobile World Congress next week, among other possible unveilings from the company. The Firefox OS-based ZTE Open C will be shown alongside the Grand Memo II LTE, both following up on the ZTE Open and the ZTE Grand Memo the manufacturer revealed at the same event last year.

A press release received by PhoneArena gives little in the way of clues for what the devices will offer, except that the Grand Memo LTE II running Android will have a 6-inch display, and the Open C is being launched in partnership with Mozilla and Telefonica.

The earlier Grand Memo offered a slightly smaller 5.7-inch 1280x720-resolution display with a quad-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, which in theory should be upgraded in the new release. The original ZTE Open offered a low set of specifications in a device set for emerging markets, including a 3.5-inch display, a single-core processor with 256MB of RAM, and a 3.2-megapixel camera, something which should be improved upon overall in the Open C.

It is also expected that ZTE will show off an updated MiFavor UI on some devices, a combined projector and hotspot, a smart watch, and a version of the ZTE Geek running Tizen.
