Performance artist begins queuing before release announcement

A Japanese blogger decided to line up for the iPhone 6, after being spurned of his chance to be the first person in line for an iPhone 5. Apple fan and performance artist Yoppy donned his iPhone cosplay, and started queuing for the new phone outside of the flagship Apple store in Tokyo, Japan, likely to wait for months before an official announcement will be made about its release by the company.

Acting on a rumor that the device would be released in September according to Rocket News 24, Yoppy set out to begin waiting the eight months in advance for the newest iteration of the iPhone. In a tweet translated by The Register, Yoppy said "I'm the world's fastest queuer for the iPhone 6, and I've got email in English from Brazilian and UK news sites. Wish me luck as I have to reply."

Yoppy made news in the past with his iPhone outfit, when he attempted to be the first to purchase the iPhone 5 in Japan -- only to end up buying an iTunes gift card after arriving too late. Poor planning, a lack of supplies, and a store staff unable to tell him when the phone would be released would eventually bring his waiting -- performance piece or not -- to an end.

Not to say that there aren't plenty of people doing nutty performance art in other countries as well, but the problem with Japan (and I say this as someone who's going to be on a plane to the country next week) is that every time I try to defend them as not having some of the wackiest loons in the world, someone goes and does something like this.

The real question, I suppose, is if he's actually going to sit there until fall (gonna get hot in that suit...), or if he's going to get bored after a couple of weeks when media attention dies down and give it up.

The thing about Japanese loons that sets them apart is that they're so harmless.
