Unpacked event to be restrained launch compared to Galaxy S4
Samsung's "Unpacked 2014 Episode 1" event at Mobile World Congress will not only host the launch of the Galaxy S5 smartphone, but also a new Galaxy Gear, claims a report. Sources of the New York Times claim that the event will be a "relatively low-key" affair when compared to the singing and dancing used for the launch of the Galaxy S4 at New York's Radio City Music Hall last March.
In terms of specification, the report claims the more outlandish rumors of an eye scanner and a WQHD display will not occur, though it will still have a better camera and faster processor. A new version of the Knox security software is also touted, though it is believed the smartphone as a whole will be a more gradual improvement than originally thought, with the company apparently listening to criticism over some of the Galaxy S4's gimmicks, such as Air View.

While light on the specifics, it is claimed the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will receive an upgrade at the event. Recent rumors suggest the device could use a curved or flexible OLED screen instead of the 1.6-inch AMOLED version in the original, with Samsung executive vice president of mobile business Lee Young claiming in an interview that it it will have "more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved."
