Android-based Nokia X 'Normandy' certified for use in three countries

Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand filings confirm Nokia Android smartphone

Nokia's rumored Android "Normandy" smartphone is seemingly becoming less of a rumor, with the device apparently receiving certification in three countries over the last few days. Filings have appeared at regulators for Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, with the RM-980 model number associated with each listing matching one that appeared in a recent browser benchmark result.

Neither the filings for Thailand nor Indonesia, spotted by NokiaPowerUser and Nokianesia respectively, offer much in the way of information. The listing in Malaysia found by Lowyat confirms it to be a dual-SIM device with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, though it appears not to have any LTE connectivity.

Earlier rumors suggest the Normandy, also known as the Nokia X, to have a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. It is said to have a 4-inch 480x800 display, a rear 5-megapixel camera, a 1,500mAh battery, and will use a customized version of Android 4.4.

It is highly probable Nokia will launch the Nokia X at Mobile World Congress this month.
