Ouya ships black variant of Android console with increased storage

Storage increased from 8GB to 16GB, Wi-Fi improved in updated Ouya

Ouya has launched an updated version of its Kickstarter-funded, Android-based game console. Just like the limited-edition white model from the end of 2013, the upgraded version offers an all-black console, a similarly-colored controller, a doubling of the internal storage from 8GB to 16GB, and a number of other small improvements over the original model.

Ouya, 16GB Black model

The supplied controller is apparently a refined model that has better thumbstick grips and buttons, and is said to be more responsive than the controller first shipped with the console. The Ouya console itself remains relatively unchanged, using a quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 1GB of RAM, one USB port with a microUSB version for connecting to a computer, Bluetooth, and Ethernet connectivity, and while the Wi-Fi is said to be "boosted" on the Ouya Facebook page, it is not clear exactly how it has improved.

The all-black 16GB Ouya is priced at $129 and is shipping now. The original 8GB model will still be sold for $99.
