Scribd's $9 monthly e-book subscription service available for Kindle Fire tablets

E-book subscription service Scribd is entering the Kindle Fire market with a Kindle-specific version of its already existing app for iOS, Android and web service. Available for $9 per month, Scribd's Kindle version offers unlimited monthly access, and users can share and embed books onto websites. Scribd is connected with publishing house HarperCollins, and holds a catalog of titles from independent publishers.

BlackBerry planning to launch BBM for phones running Android 2.3 in February

BBM for Android is planning to launch a version for phones running Android 2.3. Intended to engage global markets, as Gingerbread still powers 21 percent of Android devices, BlackBerry will greatly broaden its user base of BBM for Android. According to Engadget, the BBM app for Android 2.3 is due to be released in February.
