Barcelona could be venue of Android-based Normandy launch

Following the release of its latest quarterly results, Nokia has started to send out invitations to an event at Mobile World Congress in February. In a similar manner to last year, the company will be holding a press conference on the morning of the event's first day, though the details of what Nokia will reveal before Microsoft's acquisition remains unknown.

In what could be Nokia's last chance to launch devices before it hands its mobile phone business to Microsoft, the manufacturer could reveal its rumored "Normandy" device. Running on a heavily customized version of Android, it is thought to have a low-resolution 854x540 display with a small screen size to match, and a 5-megapixel camera.

Pocket-Lint suggests that a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 will also be on show, in the form of the Lumia 1520V. Housing a 1080p, 4.3-inch display, it will use the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor as the full-size version, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a marginally downgraded 14-megapixel camera, and a 3,000mAh battery.
