System without update since October 2012
A major Belgian retailer, Computerstore.be, is now listing updated Mac minis as shipping in late February. Hosted pages mention systems based on Haswell-level Core i5 and i7 processors. Apple has yet to actually announce launch dates for new Minis, but when contacted by a shopper, Computerstore claimed its information comes from Apple or reliable sources.
The listings suggest that new Minis will have 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and ports for HDMI, USB 3.0, FireWire, and Thunderbolt connections. Graphics should be supplied by Intel's integrated Iris technology.
The Mini is overdue for an update. The hardware was last refreshed in October 2012, putting it well behind any other Mac in terms of performance. The company has seen far more success with iMacs and MacBooks, however, and also had to scramble to ship the redesigned Mac Pro before the end of 2013.
