Timeline for feature's launch still vague
iOS in the Car has changed significantly since it was first demonstrated at WWDC 2013, the current state of pre-release code shows. Apple has for instance rearranged the status bar into a vertical position, and altered the look and placement of buttons. This includes completely revamping the app screen to use a more standard icon placement, instead of displaying an unlabeled bar.
It's unclear how close to completion iOS in the Car might be. Apple has only promised a broad "2014" timeframe, and automakers will still need to integrate support into their dashboard systems. The technology will probably be finished before September however, since Apple is expected to reveal iOS 8 around then.
