New Samsung mobile user interface leaks, Galaxy S5 features rumored

updated 10:54 am EST, Mon January 20, 2014

Google Now-style tiles could form major part of Galaxy S5 interface

Samsung will be using a tile-based user interface design in future devices, according to new leaked screenshots. The images of the Google Now-inspired card system surfaced at the same time as a raft of rumors speculating over the features of the Galaxy S5, with the strong possibility of the new software front end appearing on the expected flagship smartphone.

The image from the @evleaks Twitter account offer a more colorful view when compared to the grays used in Google Now, and matches well with a number of elements shown in an earlier leak. Potentially usable as a lockscreen widget or as a Google Now replacement in its own right, it shows a wide variety of subjects and activities that the user took part in, such as buying food or exercising. Notifications for packages, flights, and sports results also appear, as well as updates and messages from contacts.

In terms of on-device features, a report from the Korea Herald claims the Galaxy S5 will ship with a fingerprint reader that could be placed underneath the display, and would not use an iris scanner. Sources of Phone Arena believe that it will have an iris scanner, and ship with a 2560x1440 display, 2,900mAh battery, and a 20-megapixel camera, though it will not be in a metal casing.
