Skype's iOS apps receive two-way HD calling, improved chat sync
Social messaging platform Skype has updated its iPhone and iPad apps with the release of Version 4.17 launched today. Users can message, voice or video call friends and family who are also on the service for free with Skype's service. Version 4.17 has added two-way HD video calls, supported on the iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.
Additionally, with the update comes improved chat sync function across all devices. Skype is free to download for iPhone and iPad through the iTunes store.
Quark DesignPad 2.0 released, includes support for multi-page PDFs and QuarkXPress files
Quark Software has released its second version of Quark DesignPad, an application for iPad that allows its users to create visual documents of a wide variety. Designs can be shared on Twitter, Facebook, by e-mail, printed or developed further with QuarkXPress software.
The program has been redesigned for iOS 7, and now includes support for creating multi-page documents as PDFs and QuarkXPress files. The new version allows users to create text style sheets, automatically format text with multiple styles, see automatic alerts for text overflow including a 'tap to fit' feature, and more. A free download from the iTunes store, users can unlock the Pro Feature Pack for access to professional output and sharing capabilities, which is priced at $10.
