Undercover 5.6 adds auto-update functionality, improved accuracy of GPS fixes
Orbicule has released its latest version of theft recovery application, Undercover. Able to track a stolen Mac in real time, Undercover's web interface allows users to instantly snap and view mugshots of the theft whenever the stolen Mac is online. Screenshots, location information and keylogging all are enabled to gather evidence intended to provide users and law enforcement with the ability to follow whomever has stolen the device in question. Version 5.6 features an auto-updating function, meaning users will no longer need to manually install updates. Now completely automated, even stolen Macs can have the latest update of Undercover, without alerting the person who stole the device.
Undercover 5.6 uses Skyhook Wireless technology in conjunction with Apple's built-in location framework, greatly increasing the accuracy of GPS fixes. Additionally, Undercover 5.6 can now obtain the name of the wireless network a stolen Mac is connected to, accelerating the recovery process. Version 5.6 is a free upgrade for all Undercover 5 users. Older versions can be upgraded for $20, and new users can obtain a single-use account for $50.
