Mac Pro shipments commence in Europe after 10-month absence

updated 07:55 am EST, Mon January 13, 2014

Shipments of Mac Pro begin in Europe following regulatory withdrawal

The new Mac Pro has apparently started to ship in Europe, marking the first time the computer has gone on sale on the continent since March 1st in 2013. Though the Apple website shows it as shipping in February in a number of European countries, there are reports of some customers receiving shipment notifications for as early as January 14th.

MacGeneration shows the Mac Pro with the early shipping date, with the French order initially placed on the 19th of December last year. As for those ordering the Mac Pro more recently, the regional Apple store pages show shipments will take place in February, just as shown with store listings in the United States in early January.

Sales of the older Mac Pro were halted in Europe over an apparent lack of compliance with regulations, with an amendment to IEC60950-1 altering the requirements relating to the electrical port and fan guards. Evidently, the Mac Pro passes this new requirement.
