iOS 7.1 beta 3 reaches developers, makes numerous fixes

updated 01:21 pm EST, Tue January 7, 2014

Public release may still be some distance away

Apple has released a third beta of iOS 7.1 to developers, accounts say. The code was seeded to select testing partners on December 23rd, but at the time, not the general developer community. The beta is said to make a number of adjustments and bugfixes, bringing v7.1 much closer to its finished state. Some fixes deal with listening to audiobooks, creating a new iCloud account during device setup, and errors seen when enabling iCloud Keychain.

The update may not reach the public for some time, however. Around the time beta 3 was first handed off to testers, the source that revealed the news said that a final release might not happen until March. Apple typically ships a minor iOS update in January, and waiting until March would indicate an unusually long development period.

March? Meanwhile, iOS 7 performance on iPhone 4 is ridiculously slow. They can't rush a speed patch?
