Company promises 25 percent faster transfers from new hardware

LenovoEMC today announced the worldwide availability of the new px4-400d Network Storage, a high performance four-bay desktop NAS that delivers advanced data protection plus local and remote content sharing utilizing the existing LenovoEMC LifeLine operating system. Lenovo promises up to 25 percent higher data read and write performance than in its previous models of network attached storage devices.

The px4-400d utilizes hot swap 7200rpm SATA-III Server Class drives in a compact form factor, with up to 16TB in storage capacity in four 4TB drives. Out-of-the-box certifications include Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2, VMware vSphere ESX 5.5 iSCSI and NAS, XenServer 6.1, 6.2 (w/ MPIO), iSCSI & NFS.

A dual-core Intel Atom D2701 processor at 2.13Ghz drives the NAS in conjunction with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. Connectivity is provided by a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports. The unit supports RAID 0,1,5, and 10.

The LifeLine operating system runs the new NAS, which incorporates standard network storage capabilities as well as business-oriented features, including built-in Cloud technology, remote access, virtualization, data replication, device-to-device copy jobs, advanced RAID support, solid state drive support and more. New hardware features include HDMI, eSATA and USB 3.0 ports for video display and storage expansion.

The LenovoEMC px4-400d Network Storage is now available worldwide. Pricing starts at approximately $729 for the diskless model and up to $2,700 for the 16TB version. Both the Server Class Series and international Pro Series utilizing standard hard drives are also available fully populated with either 1TB, 2TB, 3TB or 4TB hard drives.
