Orbotix debuts fully programmable Sphero 2B connected toy

Orbotix has rolled out its latest vision for the fully programmable toy robot, the Sphero 2B. The new design features an elongated tubular body that not only rolls, but is capable of tumbling as well. According to the company, the Sphero 2B features customizeable tires and will also ship with 'smart' accessories that will extend its functionality further when it debuts this fall.

Orbotix also adds that the Sphero 2B is fully programmable and is a good way to introduce younger people into the world of programming. Like the original Sphero, the Sphero 2B works with mobile apps, including apps that support augmented reality. It will also debut new advanced multiplayer games when it launches.

The Sphero 2B is compatible with both iOS and Android devices, connecting over Bluetooth 4.0. Its built-in battery charges over a USB connection, while it is made from a tough polycarbonate material.
