Aquos lineup gets updated for 2014

During its CES keynote, Sharp announced the next developments for its range of large screen Aquos TVs. Throughout 2014, Sharp will be updating its entire line with the introduction of new models in its Aquos HD, Quattron, and 4K lineups. Furthermore, a new Quattron+ model, which has been designed to bridge the gap between Full HD and 4K, was also announced alongside a new SmartCentral TV platform.

The Quattron+ does not offer a 4K resolution, but for the first time does include support for playing 4K content. Featuring a Quattron panel and Sharp's "Revolution" technology, which splits every pixel in two to provide 16 million sub-pixels, the Quattron+ models are expected to begin shipping in the spring. Prices for every model have not been set, however, we do know that the Quattron+ lineup will start at a base MSRP of $2,300, with prices going up to $3,100 for larger screen sizes.

The first of the new Aquos TVs to hit the market in 2014 will be the entry-level HD line. This will include 60-, 70-, 80-, and 90-inch models, all complete with 120Hz refresh rates, 1080p resolutions, and the new SmartCentral TV platform. Following on the heels of this release will be 60- and 70-inch Quattron models, 60-, 70-, and 80-inch Quattron+ models, and 60- and 70-inch 4K models.
