New Lenovo smartphones include metal trim on casing, similar internals
Lenovo is launching a trio of new smartphones, at the same time as bringing the LTE-equipped Vibe Z out of China and into new markets. The S930 and S650 are said to take some of the design aspects of the Vibe Z, though with more restrained specifications, while the A859 appears to be a budget-friendly offering that retains similar internals to the other two releases, but opts for a cheaper external casing.
The S930 has a six-inch, 1280x720-resolution display, a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. Running on Android 4.2, it offers Dolby Digital Plus DS1 audio processing with dual front-facing speakers, a rear-mounted 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, a 1.6MP front-facing version, and a 3,000mAh battery. The 170-gram (6 ounces) weight of the dual-SIM device comes from its polycarbonate and metal trim body, which is said to have a "fabric-feel texture" and a unique rear cover design for a comfortable grip.
The smaller S650 has relatively similar specifications to its S930 stablemate, though there are some exceptions. The battery is a reduced 2,000mAh version, the front-facing camera has been downgraded to 0.3 megapixels, and the display is a 4.7-inch, 960x540 version. That being said, it does keep the same outer casing, and weighs a lighter 126 grams (4.4 ounces).
Though the A859 opts for a simpler polycarbonate-only casing, it still manages to match the S930's specifications list. The same quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, front and rear cameras, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and 2G and 3G connectivity exists in the A859, though it has a 5-inch 1280x720 display and a 2,250mAh battery.
Originally launched in China, the Vibe Z is Lenovo's first LTE smartphone. Behind its 55-inch 1080p IPS display is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. On the back is a 13-megapixel camera with an f1.8 aperture lens, while a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are also included.

The S930, S650, and the A859 are available now in countries where Lenovo smartphones are currently sold, priced at $319, $229, and $219 respectively.
