Bags usually highly sought-after
iPad Airs and MacBook Airs were among the contents of the Lucky Bags sold at Japanese Apple Stores this year, reports note. The bags, given away for the New Year, were first announced on December 26th alongside a one-day sale at the Japanese online Apple Store. People had to pay 36,000 yen (about $340) to reserve one, but didn't know what they would contain until they picked them up.
Four different bag configurations were offered. The most valuable contained an 11-inch MacBook Air -- worth 98,800 yen on its own -- plus a Magic Mouse, a red MacBook Air jacket, a Beats Pill Speaker, and a special New Year's Apple t-shirt, among other items. The other bags focused around Wi-Fi models of the iPad Air and iPad mini, as well as the seventh-generation iPod nano. Fillers alongside each high-ticket item included things like the Philips hue starter kit, the Nike+ FuelBand SE, the Ultimate Ears Mobile Boombox, the Stem IZON View remote control camera, and Square's credit card reader.
