No More Woof raises $15,000 in campaign with two months left

No More Woof, a tech project aimed at developing a collar that can translate dogs' thought patterns and barks into English, has surpassed its crowdfunding goal by 50 percent, meaning supporters may see a device translation device for their pets as soon as April of next year. Fox News reported this week on the project's crowdfunding success, noting that the project has surpassed its $10,000 Indiegogo goal by nearly $5,000 and still has two months to go.

The gadget was developed by the Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery, and it centers on a headset with a lightweight electroencephalograph built in. According to the NSID, the headset will read canine thoughts - the group behind it says they have already seen success in this area - and play those thoughts in human language through a gramophone-like plastic trumpet.

The people behind the novel project, though, caution backers not to be too optimistic on the first generation of the device.

"Some of the most easily detected neural patterns are: 'I'm tired', 'I'm curious who that is' and 'I'm excited,'" the Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery writes on its Indiegogo page. "To be completely honest, the first version will be quite rudimentary. But hey, the first computer was pretty crappy too." [Lead image via Gary Larson's The Far Side]

Good thing they don't offer it for cats.

"You look tasty. If only I were a lot bigger."

"I plan to take over the world ... tomorrow. This sunlit spot is good today."
