Oppo launches R1 smartphone in China, Pepsi version of N1 spotted

Promotional version of Oppo N1 available only through competitions

Oppo has launched another mid-range smartphone in China, while another recent release has been spotted flying another company's colors. The Oppo N1 has been photographed with Pepsi branding as a promotional limited-edition device, and the Oppo R1 offers a 5-inch IPS display, a resolution of 720x1280, and a thickness of just 7.1mm.

The Pepsi edition of the N1 is shown by Gizchina to be supplied in a red, white, and blue box. Though the internals remain the same, it has a Pepsi-styled cover and a customized launcher, all in Pepsi colors. Not available for sale, the device will be offered as prizes in Pepsi competitions in China, with the possibility of it being offered in Vietnam, Indonesia, and other nearby countries as well.

The new R1, running on Oppo's Color OS Android implementation, has a front-facing 5-megapixel camera and a rear-facing 8-megapixel version with a wide F/2.0 aperture. Using a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor with 2GB of RAM, PhoneArena states that it has 16GB of storage, no MicroSD card expansion, and a 2,410mAh battery. Available in China for 2498 CNY ($410), the R1 is unlikely to make its way to Europe and the US.
