Asus hints at dual-OS tablet with Windows, Android for CES launch

Video teases possible Windows, Android tablet spotted in early December

A dual-booting tablet may be making an appearance at CES, according to a new teaser video from Asus. The hardware producer has released a clip of a computer-generated Statue of Liberty, showing the peace hand gesture and holding a color-changing tablet in the air, with the alternating green and blue hinting at a device that runs both Android and Windows.

The clip spotted by Engadget could be referring to a tablet that passed through the FCC earlier this month. Three models went through testing, with an accompanying table showing there to be a total of three different versions, each of which running Windows, Android, or both, resulting in a total of nine different tablets. Depending on the version, it is thought to have an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, a 3,910mAh battery, and options for 32GB and 64GB of storage.

While the video strongly suggests the tablet form factor, it is possible that it may take after the Transformer Book Trio, a tablet Asus launched in June that not only switched operating system between Windows 8 and Android 4.2, but also had an extra keyboard dock, allowing it to be used as a notebook.

More information will be revealed by the company at CES itself.
