5.5-inch 1080p display in new LG smartphone

LG has launched a new large-screen smartphone in a similar vein to the flagship G2 in South Korea. The LG Gx has a larger 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1920x1080 resolution, packed into a casing measuring 9.2mm thick and weighing in at 167 grams, though its internals appear to be taken from the LG Optimus G Pro rather than mimicking the G2.

Inside is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The rear 13-megapixel camera is joined by a front-facing 2.1-megapixel version, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity is present, and power comes from a 3,140mAh battery. Able to connect over 2.6GHz 4G LTE, its software features includes the Smart Day lock screen information app, QRemote to use the LG Gx as a remote control for televisions and other devices, and the tapping-based waking of KnockOn.

Launching in South Korea, the LG Gx will cost somewhere in the region of $800. LG did not reveal when it will ship the Gx in other countries, if at all.
