4.7-inch display joined by physical keys on front of Galaxy Core Advance

Samsung has started off revealing what devices it will be shipping in 2014, with a budget smartphone. The Galaxy Core Advance follows on from the original Galaxy Core and the oddly-named Galaxy Core Plus, offering a 4.7-inch 800x480-resolution TFT display along with a row of physical keys on the front bottom edge, a departure from the software-based or touch-sensitive keys used on typical Android devices.

Inside the Galaxy Core Advance is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, expandable by up to 64GB via microSD. The rear 5-megapixel autofocus camera is joined by a front-facing VGA version, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, and a 2,000mAh battery. Running on Android 4.2, it includes a voice-guided camera app, with the vocal aspect carrying over to its Text-To-Speech system, with S Voice, S Beam, and S Translator also making an appearance.

Samsung has not revealed the price of the Galaxy Core Advance, except that it will be available early next year, and will be out in a choice of Deep Blue and Pearl White colors.
