MiniDrive to add compatible unit for latest 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina

The creators of MiniDrive - a storage space solution for MacBooks that uses the SD card slot to provide secondary storage - have announced their upcoming unit that will be compatible with the latest 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina. The MiniDrive is a semi-permanent, on-board storage addition that provides users with 64 GB of secondary storage.

Currently available for 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros from mid 2009, 13-inch MacBook Air from late 2010, 17-inch MacBook Pro from mid 2012 and 15-inch MacBook Retina from mid 2012, the MiniDrive requires individually tailored endcaps (for removal) as to accommodate each model. The original MiniDrive storage adaptor, which fits in all MacBooks except the latest ones, is available from Amazon for $20. Those interested in MiniDrive for the latest MacBook Retinas can learn of upcoming releases by joining MiniDrive's mailing list.

You can make your own MiniDrive for $4 by CAREFULLY cutting away the USB portion on one of these. I've been using it on my ChromeBook for a few months with a 16GB MicroSDHC card and have had no issues. http://www.kaibader.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/SD-Card-Adapter.jpg
