Adverse weather conditions slows production, shipping of smartphones

Deliveries of the Moto G and Moto X to customers in the United States have been delayed, because of adverse weather conditions. The manufacturing and shipping facility in Fort Worth, Texas was affected by "Winter Storm Dion," with the snow causing significant transportation issues for finished goods as well as for Motorola employees.

A statement received by Phone Arena advises that Motorola's "top priority is the safety and well-being of our team members, as well as providing the highest level of service to our customers. We are taking steps to make up any lost time, but we anticipate some delays." Customers have been e-mailed, advising of the delays, with new orders on Moto Maker now showing shipping times of 13 days, far longer than normal.

Winter Storm Dion is the second mishap to occur to the Google-owned phone manufacturer in the last month. An earlier Cyber Monday promotion endured technical difficulties, forcing the company to reattempt the discounted sale, though that too had its difficulties.
