Further refines look for iOS 7
Check-in service Foursquare has released a major update of its iOS app, v7.0. Building on earlier releases, the interface has been evolved to bring it further in line with iOS 7. The most significant addition however may be an expanded push notification system, capable of alerting people to the most interesting things about a new location without having the app open. At a restaurant, for example, notifications may point out the most popular menu item, or food on discount.
When users do open the app, results for nearby locations will be shuffled each time to highlight previously unseen items. Swiping brings up tips, sales, or friend activity. Foursquare is also promising speed improvements in the app.
The iOS client is a free download, and now requires an iPhone running iOS 7 or later. Previous versions should still be available for download through the App Store.
