Skitch iOS update restores PDF reading, markup support, web capture

The iOS version of screen capture and markup app Skitch (free) has been updated, mostly restoring features that were previously removed. Users can now once again open and read PDFs in the program, as well as markup and re-save a PDF (the latter feature requires an Evernote Premium account, however). Crop mode has been removed and various bugs fixed, and web capture has been added back in. Evernote, which bought Skitch two years ago, has dealt with continuing criticism over the company's changes to the program, which was originally created to quickly capture, annotate and share screenshots. Evernote Premium accounts cost $5 per month or $45 per year.

Autodesk adds MEL scripting support with Maya LT Extension

Today, Autodesk released Maya LT 2014 Extension 2, intending to advance the workflows of indie game developers with support for Maya Embedded Language (MEL) scripting, new OBJ export options and improvements to HumanIK and IK Handle technology.

The Maya LT Extension 2 enables repetitive or complex tasks to be simplified by offering easy sharing with others, due to its built-in script editor that removes the need to manually write scripts and displays. Maya LT 3D assets can be exported in an OBJ file format, expanding compatibility with other industry standard tools and game engines. Available as a free download for current subscribers, Autodesk's Maya LT Extension 2 can be obtained from Autodesk's site in a free trial, subscription or pay-as-you-go format.
