Rumor claims Google dissatisfied with current state of the service

YouTube's long-rumored music service has allegedly been delayed until sometime in early 2014. The subscription music offering is said to be preparing for a first-quarter launch, though an exact date has yet to be set, and it is thought that the delay itself has been caused by Google's dissatisfaction with the service as a whole.

Sources of All Things D claim that the integration of user-generated YouTube content into the service alongside normal music videos and audio tracks is dragging the project down and delaying it. Other than that, the remaining parts of the service are in place and ready to go, with all of its music licensing already organized thanks to existing deals for Google Play Music All Access, as well as those for YouTube itself.

In late October, the YouTube music service was rumored to have offline caching of tracks, something which has seemingly been confirmed thanks to code found within the Android YouTube app. The service is thought to consist of two tiers, with a free advertising-supported tier accompanied by a $10 monthly subscription that removes advertising and adds the caching.
