Asus tablet variants in filing will run Windows, Android, or both

A tablet from Asus capable of running two operating systems has appeared in an FCC filing. The tablet, going under the model names M82T, L82T, and R82T, is able to run on both Android KitKat and Windows 8, though a further six variants are listed as Windows-specific and Android-specific models, suggesting there will be a total of nine available using the same base hardware.

Specifications spotted in the filing by Phone Arena include an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, a 3,910mAh battery, and options for 32GB or 64GB of storage. Though the resolution is not known, it is thought to have a seven-inch display. It is also unclear what exactly the differences are between the M, L, and R series of devices, though it is shown that the models with 80 in the middle will be Windows versions, while those with the number 81 in the model name running on Android. It is also likely to be a full version of Windows 8.1, as Asus previously revealed it would not be making any more tablets using Windows RT.

Though a launch date is unknown, it is thought that the tablets will make an appearance next month during CES.
