Briefly: Infinity Blade for iOS free, Skype for Mac adds searchability

updated 12:59 am EST, Tue November 26, 2013

Chair makes original Infinity Blade free for limited time

The three-year-old but still highly-regarded game Infinity Blade for iOS has been made free for a limited time in celebration of Black Friday -- only the second time the game has gone free since its debut. The game, the first in the series, is compatible with iPhones from the 3GS on up and all iPad models, as well as the third-generation or later iPod touch. The game -- in which players take on the role of a knight and his descendants battling the God King and his minions in a single-player campaign marked by lush, cinematic graphics -- normally sells for $6.

Skype for Mac updated to v6.11, adds improved searchability

Skype for Mac (free) has been updated to version 6.11, a bug-fix release that fixes scrolling under OS X Mavericks and adds improved searching of past messages as well as filtering for certain kids of messages, such as attachments or pictures. In addition, the release fixes full-text searches of messages with Unicode characters under 10.6 (Snow Leopard), addresses a problem where dragged links were blurry when being dragged into a display with different resolution, a problem with file transfer messages displaying incorrectly if they were scrolled in a particular way, and resolved a disk I/O problem that prevented some users from logging into the service. The updated version is available now.
