2014 Honda Civic Coupe to support iOS mirroring

The 2014 Civic Coupe will support iOS mirroring when it becomes available on December 4th, Honda has announced. The car has a 7-inch multi-touch display built into the dash, which people will be able to use to control an iOS device without having to use a mount or reach down. Honda adds that promised Siri Eyes Free updates for its vehicles will also be available in early December.

Siri Eyes Free was originally revealed in June 2012, and lets people issue voice commands to an iOS device through a wheel-mounted button, while keeping a device's screen off to avoid distractions and battery drain. iOS mirroring is a newer concept, a part of the iOS in the Car initiative Apple announced in June of this year. That technology should see more widespread adoption in 2014; Eyes Free has been slowly trickling out to automakers such as Audi, BMW, Chrysler, GM, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, and Toyota.
