Tool redesigned for more simplicity

Quark has released a new version of App Studio, a tool for converting InDesign and QuarkXPress layouts into web and mobile apps, including digital newspapers and magazines. The latest release has been redesigned with iOS 7 in mind, for instance incorporating a theming feature that controls colors throughout an app. It also integrates with iOS 7's native sharing functions for Facebook, Twitter, and email.

Other additions include one-tap issue previews, sliding "hamburger" menus for things like tables of contents, and previews before switching a reader into fullscreen mode. App users can also be given simplified bookmarking and notetaking functions. Developers have access to a new Store Page design, with customizable banners and more space for promoted content, as well as configuration of subscriber login options and location.

    Quark is still in business?

Actually, it would be nice if they would step up and do something to make their flagship software competitive again, given the seething hatred a lot of us feel for Adobe's predatory licensing now that they have a functional monopoly in several markets.
