AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule 7.7.2 firmware fixes USB, WAN issues

updated 03:58 pm EST, Thu November 21, 2013

Single release covers both routers

Apple has released a firmware update for its AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule routers, v7.7.2. The code fixes three problems, including one that would cause periodic loss of an Internet connection. Another prevented USB hard drives connected to an Extreme from being used by Time Machine.

The final bug triggered network loops. To install the v7.7.2 update, router owners must have the OS X or iOS version of AirPort Utility. Badges will be displayed in the app next to any router with an available upgrade.
