Notebook with floating Ezel-Hinge has improved processor, RAM, storage
Acer has upgraded its distinctive notebook, the Aspire R7. The new Aspire R7-572 notebook, which sports a 15.6-inch 1920x1080-resolution touchscreen display on a floating "Ezel-Hinge", now includes a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, as well as increases to its memory and storage capacity, and an extension to its battery life that allows for up to 6.5 hours of usage.
The Core i5 1.6GHz processor, capable of up to 2.6GHz using Turbo Boost, is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. The keyboard on the Windows 8.1 notebook is full size and backlit, sound is provided by four 2-Watt speakers with Dolby Digital Plus, and an HDMI port, SD card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0 are also included.
The updated R7 also includes compatibility with the optional active stylus, usable in all of the Ezel-Hinge's positions, and offering 256 levels of pressure sensitivity. Acer tools pre-installed includes MemoryBinder for collecting photos and adding effects, Scrapboard for managing images and items from the Internet in a similar manner, Screen Grasp for quick image personalization and sharing, and AccuFinger for more accurate cursor placement in text documents when using fingers.
The Aspire R7-572 will be available to purchase through Best Buy stores and online from early December, priced at $900. The Acer active stylus will also be available at the same time for $49.
