Latest update of FlightTrack 5 offers streamlined interactions, redesigned interface

Mobiata's FlightTrack announced its latest update released today, bringing it to version 5.0. FlightTrack 5 replaces the three previous versions of the app for new downloads. Originally released in 2008, the flight-tracking app was once available as different tiered versions -- but in light of its fifth anniversary, the FlightTrack developers have consolidated the versions into one, streamlining the product. Features such as push notifications and terminal maps, previously only available in the 'pro' version, are now included.

Flight Track 5's new interface is the most obvious update to the app; however the majority of the changes focus on providing more information to the user. Real-time alerts for flight departure and arrival times, delays and gate numbers are now available, and users have the option to group flights into customizable trip formatting. Actual scheduled flight paths are documented, and zoomable maps complete with satellite and weather imagery are featured. The app covers information for departing and arriving flights for over 3,000 airports and 1,400 airlines worldwide. Available at an introductory price of $3 until December 1, FlightTrack 5 can be downloaded for iOS and Android.

Songkick update includes in-app ticket purchasing for the UK, Spotify integration

Songkick, a concert tracking app, has received an update today. Allowing users to track their favourite bands in order to stay appraised of when nearby concerts occur, Songkick offers a customizable concert calendar based on location and bands by scanning the user's music library. Version 3 of Songkick has introduced -- though currently only for residents in the UK at present -- in-app ticket purchasing, providing a convenient flow from tracking shows to actually purchasing a ticket and attending one.

Songkick has been redesigned to compliment iOS 7, with its interface showcasing a simplified aesthetic. Every event now displays links and prices for all ticket options, and email reminders can be sent regarding tracked events. If the user has a premium Spotify account, artists named within one's Spotify playlists can also be scanned and tracked. Also included in the latest update are bug fixes and improvements to overall stability of the app. Available for free, Songkick can be downloaded from iTunes.
